What can cause increased frequency of Carriage Jam messages? Inspection of the carriage movement compartment doesn't produce any obstruction. The carriage can be moved manually to the left without an issue. Test page prints without an issue.

I understand you get frequent carriage jam errors.
One of the reasons could be the age of the printer and the internal mechanical parts. Also, check for any jams/obstructions inside the printer.
Kindly follow the steps mentioned in these documents - Carriage jam or E3 error and 'Paper Jam' Error
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
