Recently I've been having issues printing double sided with my HP 6055e. First, the paper jams, then all of the buttons on the panel to the right of the printing tray start to light up and flash, and then I smell burning plastic. One sided printing causes no issues. But what is the point of having a printer capable of printing double sided if I can't actually use it? I've tried to troubleshoot but since my printer is recently out of warranty my options on this site are limited.

Hi @halcat3,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing some serious issues with your HP 6055e printer when attempting to print double-sided. While I can't diagnose or fix the issue directly, I can provide some general troubleshooting steps that you can try.
- Check for Paper Jams: Start by carefully inspecting the printer for any paper jams. Make sure there are no bits of paper or foreign objects obstructing the paper path.
- Use Correct Paper Type: Ensure you're using the correct type and size of paper. Incorrect paper can cause feeding issues.
- Update Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest firmware and drivers installed for your HP 6055e. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve known issues.
- Clean the Rollers: Dust and debris can accumulate on the paper feed rollers, causing problems. Follow your printer's manual to clean these rollers.
- Check for Overheating: The burning plastic smell and flashing lights indicate there might be an overheating issue. Ensure that your printer is placed in a well-ventilated area and not exposed to extreme temperatures.
- Inspect Internal Components: If you're comfortable doing so, carefully open the printer (make sure it's unplugged) and check for any obvious damage or loose connections. However, this should be done cautiously, and it's best to consult your printer's manual or HP support for guidance.
- Reset the Printer: Try resetting the printer to its default settings, which can sometimes resolve software-related issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,
Thank you for the help. I have checked for paper jams--none I could find. I am also using the correct paper. I am not able to update the firmware/drivers or reset the printer because when I turn it on all of the lights flash. I've also inspected the internal components and cleaned the rollers to no avail. The printer is overheating, but not because of its location. I'm attaching a video of what happens when I power up the printer. I keep it off as of right now because the burning plastic smell is so strong it gives me a headache. I'm attaching a video of what happens when I turn on the printer so you can see what I'm referring to.
