OfficeJet Pro 6978

When I try to make a copy using the bed it says papersize mismatch twice, and kickout blank pages, before it will finally copies.  It says it is set for 5x7 but I can't find place to change setting on 6978.  When I check settings on HP app on computer it says it is set to letter.  Any ideas where the problem is?  Thanks

Hi,

Open and close the paper input tray, a prompt on the screen should show he currently configure paper type and size.

Click Change or Modify to set the require paper type and size for Plain Paper, as well you may change the size to US Letter or A4 and .

I have followed the above steps several times and the printer still does not change the papersize.  When I modify and choose the 8 1/2 X 11 option it still goes back to the envelope size.  I even uninstalled and reinstalled the software. From the computer, the size is okay.  It is only when I try to print a copy from the printer directly is it not changing.

I am having this EXACT same issue, to the letter.  It says copy size mismatch as the current paper size detected is 4x6 and the copy paper is obviously 8 1/2 x 11.  If I change the copy size settings to 8 1/2 x 11 it happens immediately after.  This is an issue only on the printer, as all print jobs work fine.  I don't believe driver or computer software is the issue as this does not involve the computer.

I am curious if this is some type of bug in recent firmware.  Is it possible to downgrade as a potential resolution step?  I am tried everything and this paper size appears to be hardcoded in the printer and can't be changed.  This happened after I printed a photo a week or two ago.

Any other suggestions?  The posted resolution did not work for me, either.

FYI - I was able to resolve this.  I completely removed the tray, powered off the printer, powered it back on, and then reinserted the tray.  I changed the paper settings to 8.5x11 and Plain Paper and the Copy function is now working properly.

I haven't been able to copy on legal paper for months, but that last solution worked!!  Thanks!  I removed the paper tray, powered off the printer. Powered it back on, inserted the paper tray and the magic screen appeared asking what size paper I wanted--legal was an option!
