Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Accidentally mixing ink colors can be tricky, but it’s manageable!
Here’s how you can address the issue with your HP Smart Tank 7002 All-in-One printer:
Step 1: Stop Using the Printer
- Avoid printing until the issue is resolved to prevent the mixed ink from spreading further into the system.
Step 2: Drain the Mixed Ink
- Turn Off the Printer: Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Access the Ink Tank: Open the ink tank cover to access the affected tank.
- Remove the Mixed Ink: Use a syringe or ink extractor tool to carefully remove as much of the mixed ink as possible. Be cautious to avoid spilling.
- Dispose of the Ink Properly: Dispose of the extracted ink in accordance with local waste disposal regulations.
Step 3: Clean the Ink Tank
- Use a lint-free cloth or tissue to wipe the inside of the tank gently.
- If necessary, rinse the tank with distilled water to remove any residual ink. Allow it to dry completely before refilling.
Step 4: Refill with the Correct Ink
- Once the tank is clean and dry, refill it with the correct pink ink.
- Ensure you use the ink recommended for your printer model to avoid compatibility issues.
Step 5: Perform a Printhead Cleaning
- After refilling, turn the printer back on.
- Access the printer’s maintenance settings and run a printhead cleaning cycle to flush out any mixed ink from the system.
Step 6: Test the Printer
- Print a test page to check if the colors are back to normal. You may need to run multiple cleaning cycles for optimal results.
