7410 OfficeJet All-In-One
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have just replaced the color and black ink cartridges for my Officejet 7410 and the display screen shows the message "Insert color cartridge in left stall". I have removed and replaced the cartridge several times with the same message. I have cleaned the cartridge contacts with alcohol, no change. I can not cancel the message which makes the printer useless.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Don

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

If you insert your old color ink, do you get the error message? If yes, try the steps from here: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-officejet-7400-all-in-one-printer-series/391193/model/391195...

If no, you could either return/replace the ink to the store/website you purchased it from or contact the HP Support Team regarding this.

Hi Betty,

Thanks for the help. I'm using the 96 and 97 ink cartridges for the printer. They are the correct cartridges. I tried doing the reset, but the same message is being displayed. I believe there is a hardware problem with the printer. Due to it's age, I am not going to perform any further troubleshooting unless it is something easily tested. I do have another inkjet, the 7610 that is working fine.

I understand. If you insert your old color ink, do you get the error message? This is to isolate the issue.

Hi Betty,

Doesn't make any difference new or old, the message remains. The reset did not resolve the problem. That's why I believe it's a hardware problem. Thanks for giving me a few ideas to test.
