I cannot get all functions of my H-P Officejet 7500A to work. If I install the drivers from the disk that came with the printer, the printer works but the scanner app is not installed. If I download the newest driver from the H-p website, the scanner app installs and works properly, but the printer won't print (print jobs just sit in the gueue).
What am I doing wrong?

Solved the problem myself. Installed original drivers, let HP Support Assistant install update, selected 'scanner test', at which point the scanner app appeared. But there was still no icon for it on the desktop. Selected 'properties', which displayed the path to the .exe file. Went there and selected 'create a shortcut', and..... there was the icon.
All this started when I installed a larger root drive and reinstalled WIN7 and all my apps and drivers from scratch. I say this 'cause when I purchased this printer and installed drivers, the scanner icon was automatically created. Apparently the updated driver doesn't do this.

OOps. I got it backwards. With the driver provided with the printer, the scanner works but not the printer. I just used the HP Support Assistant to upgrade, and the result is no scanner support. What gives?
