Recently, my ultra-reliable OfficeJet Pro 7740 has begun to be not so reliable. First, it started throwing a paper size mismatch error for no reason at all. But now, it won't print anything sent to it. If anyone sends a job to it, whether over wifi or USB connection, PC (Win 11) or Chromebook, the job will not print. The display will show the spinning circle saying "printing" but nothing happens. The most frustrating thing is that this started in the middle of a 12-page print job. The first 3 pages came out just fine, and then it stopped working.
I have tried using the "Service Menu" to do a "Semi-Full Reset" (along with all of the other power down and restart procedures), but that has not solved the problem.

Hi @freema22,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already taken some troubleshooting steps, but let's go through some additional ones to try to resolve the issue with your OfficeJet Pro 7740.
- Check Paper Settings: Ensure that the paper settings on the printer match the settings in the print job. Sometimes, a mismatch in paper size or type can cause printing issues.
- Update Printer Firmware: Make sure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve overall performance.
- Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your printer has enough ink or toner to complete the print job. Low ink levels can sometimes cause printing problems.
- Check Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause printing issues. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
- Reset Printer Settings: Try performing a factory reset on your printer to revert all settings back to their default values. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues.
- Test with Different Devices: Try printing from a different computer or device to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the printer or the specific device you're using.
By going through these steps, you should hopefully be able to diagnose and resolve the printing issue with your OfficeJet Pro 7740.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have tried all of the above selections. I even tried printing a test page directly from the front panel, and the printer still says "Printing" with the spinning circle and no other action. Very disappointed because up until now, this has been the best printer I have ever owned.

Even more excitement with this printer! Here is what I have tried and what level of success I have had"
1) Printing the network information directly from the touchscreen - DOESN'T WORK
2) Printing the Printer Status Report from the "Reports" menu - WORKS!
3) Printing the Print Quality Report from the "Reports" menu - WORKS!
4) Printing the Web Access Test Report - DOESN'T WORK
5) Printing the Network Configuration Page - DOESN'T WORK
6) Attempting to Scan from the glass or ADF - DOESN'T WORK
7) Attempting to Copy from the glass or the ADF - DOESN'T WORK
If a firmware update was pushed out in the last 30 days, this could be a good case study of how to break a once bulletproof printer.

I have updated printer done all steps on forums but no success. Is it because I am not using HP ink?
