I’m really wanting to try my hand at sublimation for t-shirts, and according to my research, my printer can do just that. The only concern I have is whether or not I will need sublimation ink to do so. I’ve looked everywhere and all I’ve found is directions for how to print on my printer using that feature but absolutely nothing to do with wether or not I need a special ink.

You need a sublimation ink and a sublimation paper. Those are special, you can get that anywhere.

The HP printers are not good for sublimation because in the print process HP printhead uses heat to "spray" ink on a paper, and sublimation ink doesn't like to be heated because the final step in sublimation is heat transfer.

If you plan to do business with sublimation ink and printing t-shirts EPSON printers are way better because their printhead is cold and it uses piezoelectric printhead to "spray" ink on paper. Most of the professional sublimation printers that cost a lot o $$$ use EPSON printhead they are the best printhead for sublimation.
