Received message to update so I ran the update. Now I get "79 service error" on screen as printer is starting or just after finishing startup a. Printer shuts off and then restarts. This loop continues and cannot be interrupted. I did have non HP cartridges in so I purchased and installed HP cartridges and still get message and looping.

I am using a new macbook runnin Catalina 10.5.7. The printer is a Laser Jet MFP281 fdw. Yje error message is: 79 Service error Turn off then on" Turning off simply restarts the printer and then once the main screen comes on within a few seconds the printer dispays the message and either sits there or turns off and begins the sequence again. I've tried unplugging and waiting more than 60 seconds. I can sequence through a few menus before the machine shuts down so I've tried shutting off wifi, I've tried reconnecting wifi. I've tried restoring the settings. Nothing works. I've tried using HP Start up to reinitialize but that hasn't worked.
I've seen other threads where some of thte "ecxperts" have given a person a private set of instructions on how to wipe and completely reset the printer. I'm hoping one of the "experts" reads this and sends me the same secret way to wipe my printer.

I received an update message as well and as soon as it updated it has been restarting over and over and will not stop. Obviously this is due to the update y'all sent out. Please tell us how to fix this problem, because my printer is now useless until this is fixed. Not happy with the lack of support available to us. We work hard for the money we spent on the printer and the ongoing cartridge expense. Please send out the fix publicly! 😥

This has been posted several times - the problem is that HP have broken the firmware in the latest update.
You can work around it by disabling IPv6, which should allow you to connect to the network for long enough to downgrade the firmware and disable firmware updates.
