@vanessa8811, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help resolve the “Printer Failure” error on your HP OfficeJet 8022e All-in-One Printer, especially when restarting the printer doesn’t help:

Perform a Power Reset

This clears temporary hardware or firmware issues:

  • Turn off the printer using the Power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid power strips).
  • Reconnect the cord to the printer and turn it on.

Check for Ink System Issues

The error may relate to the ink system:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove and reinsert all cartridges to ensure proper contact.
  • Check for any visible ink leaks or damage.
  • Close the door and see if the error clears.

Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause system errors:

  • On a Mac running OS X 10.10 Yosemite, you may need to use the HP Easy Start tool to check for updates.
  • Alternatively, visit the HP Software and Drivers page and enter your printer model.

Reset the Printer to Factory Defaults

If the issue persists:

  • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Confirm the reset. This will erase custom settings but may resolve firmware-level issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
