HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

MS Works Database worked just fine days before [on HP 8600] before installing the  new printer. This past week a brand new 8135e set up by a computer assistant. All was well it seemed. At first would only print pdf files. From File Explorer and Desktop I tried several MWord docs, Thunderbird emails, and Excel spreadsheets and would not print anything. After several attempts after turning printer off, then rebooting PC [Windows 10}, it prints from those now. BUT it will NOT print from Microsoft WORKS data base, any of the 54 one page reports. Error message " OUT OF MEMORY. Save or close any open files or applications."  Nothing was open. Under properties for MSWorks says only 92.5kb/96.0kb. Hardly a memory issue. 
On HP Smart it says 8 items in print queue. Any suggestions appreciated.

HP Smart does not support printing Word documents.

 

Whether the full driver printer software works with "Microsoft Works Version 9" is unknown --

To find out, you do need to install the full driver.

 

Microsoft Works - Version 9 - might or might not be compatible with the new printer and the new printer's full driver.

 

What?

 

This printer -- and it's software -- are a relatively good replacement for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600.

 

The 8135e is "one down from top of line" --

While there are a couple of key features not included in the printer hardware (for example, Automatic 2-sided scan"), the printer does include a full driver software suite, a new HP Scan format.

 

The full driver includes support for printing from / in supported Office software products.

 

Important

The software for this (and similar newer models) is different from the full driver software provided in older OfficeJet printer models.  For example, the new full driver printer software might be be able to interact with very old Microsoft Office software.

Printer Software 

 

If you have not yet done so, (re)install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.

 

HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts.  The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.

 

NOTES:  

 

HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.

 

The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it.

 

 If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, Fax software is installed to support the setup and use of the Fax driver.

 

No Sign-in required to use full driver printer software.

 

 

Reinstalling?

 

  • Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features. 

    Reference:  Uninstall HP printer software and drivers / HP Smart

     

  • If your printer software includes a separate "Help" segment in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
  • Restart the computer and log in.
  • If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

In general, the web pack should load -

 

Download package > Save > Right-Click on the installation Package > Run as Administrator

 

If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.

 

Using USB?  (Re)Connect when instructed to do so.

 

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

Shortcuts on the Desktop

 

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one or more shortcuts to the Desktop.

 

 Note Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.

 

  • Printer Assistant – Where still supported as part of the full driver printer software
  • HP Scan – Shortcut on Desktop named for the printer model

OR

  • HP Scan Assistant – For those printers that no longer provide the Printer Assistant
  • HP Scan - Shortcut named for itself

AND / OR

  • When installed, HP Universal Scan software adds a separate self-named “HP Scan” shortcut
  • NOTE >> If you install the full driver printer software, installing HP Universal Scan as a standalone software from category Software & Drivers is not necessary.  The system will allow you to install both.

 

Printer Assistant shortcut > Tab Scan > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable

HP Scan Assistant shortcut > Manage Scan to Computer > Enable
