Hi @donthavetime,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e printer is stuck on the "validating" process after changing an ink cartridge and restarting doesn't help, here are some additional steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn Off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the Power Cord: Disconnect the power cord from the printer and wait for about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Plug In the Power Cord: Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  4. Turn On the Printer: Press the power button to turn on the printer.

Step 2: Check the Ink Cartridge Installation

  1. Remove the Ink Cartridge: Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridge that you recently installed.
  2. Inspect the Cartridge: Check if there are any protective tapes or stickers on the cartridge that might be blocking the contacts.
  3. Reinstall the Cartridge: Make sure the cartridge is properly installed and securely seated in its slot. Ensure it clicks into place.
  4. Repeat the Validation Process: Once the cartridge is reinstalled, the printer may automatically start the validation process again. Allow it to complete.

Step 3: Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  1. Turn Off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  2. Remove the Cartridge: Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the cartridge.
  3. Clean the Contacts: Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently wipe the electrical contacts on the cartridge.
  4. Clean the Printer Contacts: Use the same cloth to clean the corresponding contacts inside the printer where the cartridge sits.
  5. Reinstall the Cartridge: After cleaning, reinstall the cartridge and turn on the printer to see if the issue persists.

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Connect to the Internet: Ensure your printer is connected to the internet.
  2. Check for Updates: Access the printer's control panel or use the HP Smart app to check for firmware updates.
  3. Download and Install Updates: If updates are available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
