Hi @Hh162,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand you're facing an issue with using the 902XL ink cartridges on your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 printer. Let’s figure out the exact problem to help resolve it.

  • Are you receiving an error message when trying to install the 902XL cartridges, or is the printer just not recognizing them?
  • Are the 902XL cartridges genuine HP cartridges, or are they third-party or remanufactured cartridges?
  • Did you previously use 902 or 902XL cartridges in the printer without any issues, or is this the first time you're using these specific cartridges?
  • Have you moved or changed the country/region?

Meanwhile, follow the steps from this document and see if that helps.

Try updating the firmware as well. Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

First time using these cartridges and the chip is slightly different so maybe it is a third party

@Hh162, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query.

Using third-party cartridges for your HP printer is not recommended, as they could potentially harm the device. To ensure optimal performance and avoid any possible damage, it's best to use genuine HP cartridges. Always verify that you are purchasing the correct, authentic HP cartridges for your printer. This will help maintain your printer's longevity and guarantee high-quality prints.

You can purchase these directly from the HP Store to ensure you're getting genuine HP products.

Refer to this guide to find compatible ink cartridges for your printer: Click here

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification..

Take care and have a good day.
