Got the custom size configured, design is good, ran a test page for placement, then when to print on my A2 envelope and it keeps getting stuck. The printer will pick it up just fine, but about 95% of the way through (feeds up and over the roller, but before it gets to the print heads) the printer wigs out and stops printing. I have tried taping the flap down and flipping the graphic (so I can feed the envelope the other way). Nothing has worked so far.
Please help. I'm getting charged for each of these attempts and it's frustrating. I've never had an issue printing envelopes before.

Welcome to the HP User Community.
There are some necessary assumptions in the following - primarily that you understand the software you are using to create / submit the job to the printer. I can't help with how or where to adjust the settings - no Mac in our home office.
One important check point:
If you are using paper type = Envelopes or Plain Paper
(then)
The weight of the paper must not exceed the maximum weight supported for envelopes : 20-24lb
What?
Not all envelopes are equal.
One example
https://www.cutcardstock.com/collections/a2-envelopes/products/ac-kraft-a2-envelopes#
Weights: | 65 lb cover - 180 gsm |
What if?
If your envelope is heavier than supported by the plain paper / envelope setting,
You need to find a way to change the paper type to other than Plain Paper / Envelope.
Assuming you can do that, the envelope might print.
Idea...
Whether you can do so might depend on which software / application you are using to create / submit the job to the printer.
First >> Adjust the paper size / type using the Embedded Web Server (EWS) > Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management
EWS – Browser
Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
Tab Settings > Preferences > Tray and Paper Management
Note: EWS / Advanced settings can also be reached from within the HP Smart application
Continue...
Paper sizes and paper types are typically selected together (first) during Tray and Paper setup and (then) within the application / software.
If you are creating your envelope manually, for example, creating a Word document in the size and shape of the envelope, you might have the opportunity to select the paper size (possibly from a list or as a Custom size) and then a paper type (media).
For example -
If your envelope paper exceeds the standard supported paper weight,
look for / adjust paper type to Brochure / Professional (180 gsm), Presentation (120 gsm), "thick" (unknown)

You are welcome.
I wish I could help with specifics -- No MacOS in our home office.
If you are convinced the paper is within the weight limitations, it is perhaps worth a try.
The printer is not a heavy-duty office printer - if all else fails, consider creating some nice labels and use those instead.
True - not the same thing.
