HP Color Laser 150nw
Microsoft Windows 11

My printer gives the error message A3-6610 DEV CAM error. And refuses to print. If I check the embedded web service I don't find a part with that name. All the parts listed seem to be good.

Meaning the 4 toners and the imaging unit. The last one has 80% life remaining.

Going thru the process of removing power for 3 minutes and (with power disconnect) press the power button  for 30 seconds clears the error message. But as soon as I send a print job to printer I get the error back.

What is wrong with the printer and can I replace the faulty part?

Hi @Bert104,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "A3-6610 DEV CAM error" you're encountering on your HP Color Laser 150nw printer is indicative of a problem related to the printer's internal mechanisms, specifically with the developer (DEV) unit or its associated components. While HP's documentation or the embedded web service might not explicitly list a part named "DEV CAM," the error code suggests an issue with the cam mechanism of the developer unit, which is crucial for transferring toner to the imaging unit for creating prints.

Given that you've already tried the standard troubleshooting step of removing power to reset the printer, and the error recurs upon attempting to print, it's likely that there is a mechanical or electronic fault within the developer unit or its related components. The fact that all toners and the imaging unit appear to be in good condition and the error persists points towards a more specific issue with the developer mechanism.

you can try to set up Web Services using the printer control panel...

1. From the printer control panel display, touch Setup.

2. Touch Web Services Setup.

3. Touch Accept to accept the Web Services terms of use and enable Web Services.

4. In the Auto Update screen, touch Yes to allow the printer to automatically check for and install product updates.

NOTE: If a printer update is available, the printer will download and install the update, and then restart. You will have to repeat the instructions from step 1 to set up ePrint.

NOTE: If prompted for proxy settings and if your network uses proxy settings, follow the on- screen instructions to set up a proxy server. If you do not have the proxy details, contact your network administrator or the person who set up the network.

5. When the printer is connected to the server, the printer prints an information page. Follow the instructions on the information page to finish the setup.

You can update your drivers, by accessing this page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rachel,

Thanks for your reply. Whit your help I came to the conclusion that something was mechanical broken. Something I could not replace myself. If only because I could not find a place to buy the part.

So I ended up buying a new printer.

Thanks for your help

Oh, one minor detail. This printer doesn't have a control panel. It does have an embedded web service. Which I had used to load the latest firmware.
