HP Notebook - 17-by0053cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought a cartridge from Office Max and did printing jobs several times a month ago before I counld'n.

It showed on the printer screen that the cartridge needed to be registered  for an instant ink plan!!!
So, I came to the labtop and followed the instruction.
Before I pressed the botton to subsribe the minimum plan of 15 pages/month, I had called the call center to ask about the plan and made sure that the plan would start until I get the frist cartridge from HP.
So, I hit the subcribe button!!!
About a week later I received a package of the inks from HP. They are still unpacked since I thougt I could use the present cartridge until it's out.
After a month, I got an email telling me that I was charged for extra pages printed about the minimum of 15 pages!!!!!!

So, I called the call center again asking about the bill and the person I talked to insisted that I was using an instant cartridge. But I didn't think so. I felt very unhappy because I made sure, earlier in the first call, that I didn't have to pay for those pages and the plan will start soon after I put the cartridges sent from HP into the printer. Therefore, I unscribed the plan and looked for more info.
I found this forum. In another post, some customers discussed about this similar issue.
HP rep. told one customer to check the cartridge she bought from a store if it was an instant ink.
So, I did checked mine. And yes it was the instant ink that I paid the price for the ink and had to pay for extra pages I printe above the plan.
I don't think it should work that way, though.

I had no idea that the cartridge I bought was the instant ink cartridge, and  to be honest, I had no idea about the instant ink and how it worked until I counldn't do the printing!!!!!

I wish HP has a better solution than telling me that I was using the instant ink cartridge, I had to pay, I wouldn't be able to use the cartridge after the plan ends in about 2 weeks, and I had to return the cartridges.

Yes, I think the instant ink plan might work well, but

I don't think I have to double pay for the ink I had paid to the store.

I really don't think I have to return the cartridge I bought from the store to HP.

Why wouldn’t you want to send them the one u bought from the store after it runs out?  They recycle them and make huge cartridges that last a very long time.  That’s definitely better than just throwing the one you bought at the store in the garbage, don’t you think?  It can be a little frustrating if you don’t choose the right plan when it comes to HP Instant Ink.  But as long as you choose the plan that has more than the # of pages you print per month, you would definitely love it because you never run out of ink.  I always have extra cartridges.
