Example: OfficeJet Pro 6978
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a new HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer.  How do I adjust the default brightness when making a black copy?  I can make it lighter from normal to 3, but I have to do it each time I come back to make a copy.

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.

 @Copier-Pro may be right - I don't have this printer and cannot verify how it works.

If the printer is on the network,

If you have not already tried this,

Consider:

Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Copy Settings > Default Settings

Adjust settings: Slide the Lighter/Darker bar left/right to suit your preferences

Click Apply to save changes

Hi I would like to assist to the best of my ability to solve your problem.I hope the information i supply will be of help.

As far as i know the machine will return to normal setting after a few minutes.Maybe you could  try to enable gray scale  printing in the options.Try and see if that might work for you.

@Copier-Pro

Thanks.

Perhaps we will hear back whether this option is available (and actually works) on the OfficeJet Pro 6978

EWS is a very nice feature for those printers that can use it.  It is much easier to manage the printer on your browser screen than type and select options on the itty-bitty printer screen.  Smiling.

Thanks to both of you.  I tried Dragon-Fur's instruction and it worked. I have checked a couple of times and the brightness stayed at 3 instead of normal.
