HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g

I'm unsure about what happened except to say that after the recommended Firmware (SW) update the Cartridges that I've been purchasing from AMAZON for the past 2 years no longer work with my Printer. The exact cartridges that are in the printer now are what I'm replacing them with.  So please explain to me how my machine can automatically state "Printer Failure," immediately after a recommended HP Update. And there appears to be no solution to getting my printer back online. What are my options? If you provide an option for me to have to "only" purchase HP inkjet cartridges after purchasing "ALL" HP printers for the past 30 Yrs; I guarantee you will never have me as a Printer customer again.
