A power out seems to have reset the printer, its taking me through the setup menu and complains that it's not enrolled in Instant Ink (it is), stuck waiting for Alignment page to print.

The printer is a OfficeJet 9010

Hi @ordinal123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP OfficeJet 9010 printer is experiencing some issues after a power outage. Here are some steps you can follow to try and resolve the problem.

Check Power and Connections:

  • Make sure the printer is properly plugged in and turned on.
  • Ensure that all cables and connections are secure.

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can often help resolve minor issues.

Check Instant Ink Subscription:

  • Confirm that your Instant Ink subscription is active and there are no issues with your account. You can do this by logging into your Instant Ink account on the HP website.

Reset the Printer:

  • If the issue persists, you can try performing a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings you have configured on the printer.
    • Go to the printer's control panel or touchscreen menu.
    • Navigate to "Setup" or "Preferences."
    • Look for an option like "Restore Defaults" or "Factory Reset" and follow the prompts to reset the printer.

Align the Printer:

  • If the printer is stuck on the alignment page, you might need to complete the alignment process to resolve the issue. Ensure that there is paper in the tray and follow the on-screen instructions to print the alignment page and scan it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I got a used printer, and having the same issue.

I can't get to any menu/panel.

As soon as i turn on printer it says the "Cartridge must be enrolled in instant ink before use" message, and then next asks me to do print Alignment. and then it just gets stuck on print alignment forever.

Holding power 30 sec, re-plug, re-start didn't fix it.

I got my printer to work again by

- Connecting it over Ethernet (wired)

- I could then get to the printers web page (and also the WiFi setup)

- Then going to the Web services page I re-enabled the printer connection to HP

- Then used the HP smart app to re-enrolled in instant ink

There are probably other paths to a fix, but getting to the printers web page was the key for me.
