Hi @MutuaF

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The alternating 99/03 error on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182n typically indicates a firmware or control panel miscommunication—especially if pressing the Color Copy button manually clears each job. This may stem from a service-mode setting or residual job queue conflict.

I understand how disruptive it is to manually intervene for every print or copy job, especially when the printer was working fine before service. Let’s walk through a few steps to restore normal operation.

Steps to Resolve Error 99/03 on HP M182n

1. Power Cycle and Clear Job Queue

Residual jobs or corrupted memory can trigger repeated errors.

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cable.
  • Disconnect the Ethernet cable.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then reconnect power and turn it on.
  • Reconnect Ethernet after the printer fully boots.
  • On your PC, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Your Printer > See what’s printing
  • Cancel all pending jobs.

2. Reset Printer Settings

If the service altered internal settings, a full reset may help.

  • On the printer control panel, press Setup (gear icon).
  • Navigate to Service > Restore Defaults
  • Confirm reset and allow the printer to reboot.

This will clear any service-mode configurations that may be interfering with normal print flow.

3. Reinstall Printer Driver

Driver mismatches can cause control panel conflicts.

  • Go to HP’s official driver page:
    https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
  • Enter your model: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M182n
  • Download and install the Full Software Solution
  • Uninstall old drivers via Control Panel > Programs
  • Restart your PC and reinstall the new driver

4. Check Print Spooler and Port Settings

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter
  • Find Print Spooler, right-click > Restart
  • Go to Devices and Printers > Printer Properties > Ports
  • Ensure the printer is using a Standard TCP/IP Port with correct IP address

5. Update Firmware Again (If Not Latest)

Even if you updated recently, confirm the version:

If the issue persists after these steps, let me know whether the printer was serviced for hardware or software reasons—I’ll guide you through deeper diagnostics.

Hi Hawks_Eye,

Thank you for your concern and wonderful reply. Have tried all the steps you provided except the one for reset. Reason being the control panel options for this model hp 182n are minimal i.e the Setup (gear icon) is not available unlike the hp 183fw which you can navigate   to Setup (gear icon). . Is there a way to arrive to it for my model. Thank you.
