HP officejet 3830 will not print from my Dell laptop with Windows 10, connected via network.
The "User Intervention" status remains despite no problems and HP Smart software stating that the printer is "ready."
I have tried uninstall / reinstall of printer, software and drivers, updates, removing from ISP network and reinstall, and only thing that works for a single document is to turn off and on computer, then sometimes I get one document to print. After the one document prints, then the user attention error comes back.
Adding the port as a Standard TCP/IP port did work. Specifically your suggestion:
Connect the printer to TCP/IP port
--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address
a. Click Start/Devices and Printers. Right-click on your HP Printer. Select Printer Properties. Select the Ports tab at the top.
b. Select Add Port. Select Standard TCP/IP Port. Select New Port.
c. Follow the Add Port Wizard. Under Printer Name or IP Address, . Example: 192.168.1.15. The IP address will be copied under Port Name.
d. Select Next and Finish the Wizard.
Fir information to users: Both of my Dell computers with windows 10 had default selected the HP printer to a WSD Port, this may be due to the use of an HP 7740 at office. It has also been noted that the computers will sometimes default back to the WSD port and the user attention required warning comes back. When this occurs, the port setting needs to be set to Standard TCP/IP Port again.
