HP OfficeJet 4500
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This morning I wanted to print from my HP OfficeJet 4500 from the averytemplate 5434 and it won't work.  The print sounds and acts like it is printing, but when it comes out it is blank.  I printed from other templates, even regular docs and excel and they worked.  I even tried rebooting the computer and the printer and it still won't work.  I am totally baffled!

Rats.

Silly template.

Template is really just a table -- should be a "piece of cake".

Right.

The 5434 template, at least on my system (Windows 10 Pro) and using the Avery software, does work in so much that I was able to create a test sheet and then print the contents onto plain paper.

I just looked up this template at the Avery site -- this is a 4X6 inch sheet?  Well...

Try setting Media type to "Photo paper" in that case -- maybe that will work.

Look for Media "other photo papers", whatever is allowed in combination with Paper Size 4X6 inches.

To Check, set up Printing Preferences -- if the combination is not allowed, you will see a tiny yellow triangle next to the selection when you try to adjust the settings.

Good Luck!

I can offer the following...

Printer:

HP Officejet 4500 All-in-One Printer - G510g

Full Feature Software:

Release details

Released: Invalid date

Version 14.8.0

The issue could be a lot of things -- including and not limited to:

  • Weird fonts (use of non-TrueType fonts that the printer cannot translate)
  • Avery software needs to be updated / reinstalled
  • Selected Media type (kind of paper) is not compatible with the label paper.  For example, labels might require a "heavier" Media type than "plain paper" -- if available you might choose "Brochure" paper type.  In addition, you need to select that paper type with regard to whether the paper (labels) are glossy or matte.
  • General printer software issues (need to remove printer software > reboot > install fresh copy of the Full Feature Software)

Help, Suggestions, and Examples:

Install Full Feature Software – Printer

Dragonfly thank you for the feed back.  I tried most of those already.  I even did PC updates as well as the printer updates.  This particular template is the only one not working that I use.  Strange thing is, it just worked the day before.  I tried downloading a new template thinking it may have become corrupt, that didn't work either.  Darnest thing I ever seen.  It goes through the motions of printing but comes out blank.

Can you print the template document contents on plain paper (as opposed to printing on the label paper)?

No - I tried that to.  I thought maybe I could trick it.  It must be a glitch with that particular template.  If it was my printer, or cartridges I wouldn't be able to print from anything.  I guess I'll have to "make" a template for this label.  Wish me luck!
