Hi! Just unboxed my new printer and tried to print a picture on 10x15 matte photo paper and it came out looking wonky. Printed in Photo mode in HP smart app. It seemed to recognize the paper.

@AneteG, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the print quality is not good on photo paper. To assist you better, have you tried printing the same photo on regular paper and check the result?

Try printing a different photo to check the quality.

Kindly check the printer specifications if the paper you are using is supported.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your computer.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any updates for the iOS device and the HP Smart app from the App Store.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - No black ink, wrong colors, other print quality issues

Clean the ink cartridges and print a test page to check the result.

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
