HP OfficeJet Pro All-in-One Printer. Stopped printing. Error message B80005EC with icon that looks like the on/off button. The on/off button doesn't work. Wireless connection with VPN. Usually works fine. I'm reluctant to pull the plug and re-plug until I get your instructions.

Hi @oldcarrottop,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code B80005EC typically indicates a hardware issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro printer. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help troubleshoot the problem:
Step 1: Check for Paper Jams
- Open the Printer: Check for any visible paper jams in the input and output trays.
- Remove Any Paper: If you find any jammed paper, carefully remove it.
Step 2: Power Cycle the Printer
Since the power button isn't working, you'll need to unplug it:
- Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
- Wait a Moment: Leave it unplugged for about 60 seconds.
- Plug It Back In: Reconnect the power cable to the printer and the wall outlet.
- Turn On the Printer: If the power button doesn’t respond, it should automatically power on when plugged in.
Step 3: Check Connections
- Ensure that all cables (USB, power, network) are securely connected.
- If using Wi-Fi, make sure your network is operational.
Step 4: Run a Printer Self-Test
- Use the Printer’s Control Panel: If it turns on, access the settings to print a self-test or configuration page.
- Check for Errors: Look for any additional error messages.
Step 5: Update Firmware
If the printer is operational after the steps above, check for any firmware updates via the HP website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
