I have been using my printer (HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2135) for a month, it is fully functional without any issue. Yesterday, after i replace the black catridge with a new one (HP680 black ink), the print quality is defected. The black fonts printed by my printer is blurry and grained with black dots (as shown in the image attached with this post). To start my troubleshoot, i printed a diagnostic page ( attached in this post). I found that the color box and black box are partially faded with stripes. I ran these following services in the "HP DeskJet 2130 series toolbox" : Align ink catridges, clean ink catriges, clean printer, clean printheads. The problem remain unsolved. I printed blue fonts and black fonts, compare them side by side, i found that the blue font is clear and the problem is with the black font. The question is, the problem is caused by my printer or the newly bought black catridge? If it is the problem caused by my new catridge, how can I fix it? Tq.The black fonts appeared blurry and stained with black dots
The difference between blue and black printed font

Hi @Waihong113,
Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding issues with printing quality regarding black prints after replacing the cartridge with a new black one. I will be delighted to assist you here.
Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you correctly, I would require more information regarding this:
Did you try to make copies directly in black from the printer?
For now, try these steps:
Please make at least one copy in black directly from the printer without any communication from the computer and check its print quality.
If the problem persists, then contact HP phone support to get the black cartridge replaced.
Please contact HP phone support by following these steps.
HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP
- Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
- Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
- Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
- Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If the unit is under warranty, the manufacturer’s warranty should take care of it for you.
This should fix the issue for you.
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

What you can try is to change the print setting quality from best to draft mode and try again. It might be that the cartridge is slightly to full.Maybe run a few prints and see if the problem is resolved.Hope this helps.

pull your cartridge out and clean it by hand. just because it is new from the box, how old is the box?
Get a wet paper towel and put it in your palm, slap the cartridge into it , nozzles down, like you are packing a pack of cigarettes... if you get a nice solid fat line from the black cartridge, wipe it off a little and try it again,... if this doesn't get it cleared put a margarine lid of hot windex (microwaved for like 15 sec) on the counter and put the cartridge, nozzles down into the windex and set it on the edge and let it sit for a few minutes. try the paper towel pattern again. if it doesn't clear it that way, you should get a new ink. was that one you put in a compatible or a refill or in a box with a exp date a number of years ago?
