I recently bought a 2630 printer and subscribed to the Instant Ink program. I'm getting streaky printing from the black cartridge and have run all the cleaning tasks and although it has improved the print quality the black test print is still streaky. The alignment is fine and all the colours are OK. Should I take the cartridge out and clean it physically or are there any other steps I can take.
Cheers Dave

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post that you are having issues with print quality while printing from your HP DeskJet printer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Did you recently replace the ink cartridges or are you getting these streaky lines using the existing ink cartridges?
Have you tried to manually clean the ink cartridges?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
Next thing, I would suggest here is to follow the steps suggested in the support document for cleaning the ink cartridges - Step 13.

In this scenario, I would need to know few details regarding your Instant ink account to help you get the ink cartridges sorted.
Since the instant ink account details are confidential, please send me the required information via private message.

Jeet - thanks for the prompt response. I performed the hard reset as you suggested then did a level 1 clean again and that has improved the quality of the black printing. The alignment had gone off so I ran the alignment process but that caused the black to have lines across again so I don't think it has fixed the problem. I did notice when I took the cartridges out that the print line in the centre of the black cartridge looked a bit crooked, is this a problem? I've tried to take a photo of it but I can't get a good enough picture to see it. The cartridge doesn't look dirty away from the nozzle plate so I haven't tried cleaning it but I've worked through the Fixing poor print quality instructions and that has made no difference. I will send you the instant ink details seperately.
