Smart Tank 517

When I print to my Smart Tank 517 some images are printed with a black box around them.

I have noticed that when converting the PDF to image it prints well, but it's a tedious and very counterproductive process.

I have tried many solutions found in this forum but without success.

It looks like a serious firmware or driver bug.

Discussion / Observation

The borders and other effects are a result of the structure of the object being printed.

Removing the transparent background of a .png - for example, translating the object to a .jpg file, creates a border affect.  File structure is not something the printer can address.

Firmware cannot fix it - the printer translates the object to be printed and does not see the actual content.

Driver cannot fix it - the printer is not aware that you don't care for the border that is part of the object (image file).

Try

  • Insert your .png file(s) into a Word document and print that.
  • If you have a comparable software to Windows Paint (mspaint), Open .png file in that software and print.

Yes, I realize the second idea is ludicrous - it is simply meant to direct you to a Mac equivalent software that can print .png files in their native format.  Windows provides Paint for this purpose - Mac OS might provide something equivalent.

@Dragon-Fur

Thank you for your attention.

I did some tests on Word and it works very well, the problem only occurs when I print received PDF files.

What is printed is very different from what is shown on the screen.

The problem is that I get a lot of PDF files and I always have to export them as JPG to print correctly.

I tried many of the solutions found here, but none worked.

Many people suggest updating drivers or firmware, but there are no updates for my equipment.

Take a look at these for example:

But my problem is still not solved.
Does anyone know how to fix this weird black box?

I understand.

At the moment, I know of no way around the limitations of the printer to translate the data the way you want it.

Create a new thread, I promise not to answer - if there is a solution to the limitation, another Expert / agent might be able to answer.
