I have selected my default to print with Black Ink Only however, it is still using my color ink cartridges!  how can I bypass that and truly only print with black ink.

Hi @julies7

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printing issue.

Black areas might be printed with a mix of black and color inks to decrease grain. Additionally, a little ink from all the ink cartridges is used in periodic servicing tasks. This helps to prevent issues such as printhead clogs and poor print quality.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your response. I understand that some color ink may be used but why would my color cartridge ink levels be going down almost as fast as my black when I have selected black ink only? Ink can be expensive and at a time when resources need to be conserved, I need to find a way to save ink.  please tell me this printer wasn't designed to use color in when printing black only?  There isn't an option to choose black and white as I have seen others post about, this printer doesn't have this option, that I can find.
