I have a Officejet 6500A Plus printer that is 5-7 years old.  Recently my Black ink cartridge started to become very faded.  All other colors work fine.  I tried new ink cartridges and went thru the 'clean printhead ' procedure.  I then did a print test and saw that no black is printing at all in the test.  All other colors are perfect.  Any ideas on how to get the black ink to print?

Hi @Barnabus8

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "black not printing" issue.

To better assist you -

1) Does the black and white copy works?

2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or devices?

While you respond to that, let's print a Print Quality Diagnostic page -

  1. Load letter or A4, unused, plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the Right Arrow () to display the second navigation screen.

  3. Touch the Setup icon (). The Setup Menu displays.

  4. Touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Reports.

  5. Touch Print Quality Report. The print quality report prints.

Post a picture of the Print Quality Diagnostic page here so that  we can help you further.
