When printing copies I get vertical blank lines approximatesly 1/2" wide across the entire paper. So I get 1/2" of printed text, 1/2" blank paper, 1/2" printed text, 1/2" blank paper, etc. the full width of the paper. This is only the case when I copy something. It doesn't matter if I feed it in or lay it on the scanner.  If I print something from the computer it is fine.

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet 4620 e-All-in-One Printer. I read that the printing is fine. But while making copies, there are vertical blank lines on the copies. The issue persists when you copy using the scanner glass bed and also the ADF (Automated Document Feeder). Not to worry, I have a few suggestions that should help. Fabulous analysis. Spectacular diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect the power cable from the printer while the printer is still ON.
  • Disconnect any other cables if connected the printer.
  • Press and hold the printer’s power button for 15 seconds.
  • The printer should be directly connected to the wall outlet and not to a surge protector. Reconnect the power cable to print and the printer should power ON by itself. If the printer doesn’t power ON then please manually power it ON.

If the issue persists while making copies, then I suggest you to perform the steps as described in detail from this link

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know how it goes. Cheers! 🙂
