My LaserJet keep blinking and displaying the number 79. Restarting or unplugging only helps temporarily and the problem just ends up coming back. This New age contraption doesn't have a USB port either so cannot connect to computer very long. I run diagnostics tool and they say nothing is wrong or the error starts in the middle of diagnostics which disconnects the thing. Google is extremely unhelpful so please can anyone here help?

Hi @Katkid2139,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The blinking orange light and "79" error message on your HP Laserjet M234dwe printer indicate that there is a firmware issue. This error can be caused by a corrupted or outdated firmware version or a problem with the printer's software.
To resolve this issue, try the following steps.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for a few minutes, and then plug the printer back in and turn it on.
- If the error message persists, try resetting the printer to its default settings. To do this, press and hold the "Cancel" button for 10 seconds, and then release it.
- If resetting the printer does not resolve the issue, try updating the firmware. You can download the latest firmware from the HP website and install it on your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have tried this process several times with the same result. It looks as if it's fixed and then the same thing happens again. The firmware number that is printed on the printer's own report appears to be the most recent firmware update, at least according to the firmware updates listed on HPs website.
And HP no longer has a phone number listed anywhere, so it's impossible to call. Very frustrating.
