A friend gifted me this printer. Was using it without issues then suddenly the display flashes E0, with the ! sign. At the same time, the cartridge and information lights are blinking amber.

Hi @thecyberlante,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The E0 error on your HP DeskJet 2720e, along with the blinking amber lights, usually indicates a cartridge or ink issue. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Cartridges:

  • Open the printer and ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed. Remove and reseat them if necessary.

Inspect for Protective Tape:

  • Make sure any protective tape or seals on the cartridges have been removed.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • If possible, check for any firmware updates through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Replace Cartridges:

  • If the issue persists, consider trying a different set of genuine HP cartridges to see if the problem is with the current ones.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
