HP DeskJet Plus 4152 All-in-One Printer

I printed something and it only printed 1/2 a page.  There is now a orange blinking like with and E next to the 0 on the display.  I checked for paper jam, there is none.  I took out and put back in printer cartridges.  Didn't help.  I did a hard reset 3 times and the light is still blinking.  The drivers are up to date.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer twice.  Nothing is working.  I did notice that it's only reading the supply levels for the black ink and the color ink says unknown.  These cartridges are not old and should still have ink.  There's no way the color is out.  What do I do to fix this?

Hi @awaynot

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The error you're encountering with your HP DeskJet Plus 4152 All-in-One Printer, indicated by an orange blinking light with "E" next to "0" on the display, typically signifies an issue with the print cartridges or the printer itself.

Here is a series of steps to resolve the problem:

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Ensure the cartridges are installed correctly.
  • Use genuine HP cartridges to avoid compatibility issues.
  • Remove the cartridges and inspect them for any damage or leaks. Reinsert them and ensure they're seated correctly.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and in the printer with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water. Allow them to dry before reinserting.

Check for Paper or Cartridge Jam:

  • Thoroughly inspect the interior of the printer for any obstructions or debris.
  • Confirm no paper is jammed and all rollers move freely.

Reset the Printer:

  • Keep the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait about a minute, plug the power cable back into the outlet and the printer, and turn the printer back on. This can sometimes clear error states.

Check Supply Level:

  • Review the printer's supply level settings to verify both cartridges are recognized.
  • If only one cartridge is showing, reinserting and cleaning might solve the recognition issue.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer firmware is updated to the latest version available via the HP website. The firmware update might resolve software-related issues.

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Make sure your cartridges are compatible with the HP DeskJet Plus 4152 model.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer, disconnect all cables, and leave it powered down for at least 10 minutes. This can help reset the internal hardware functions.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be indicative of a hardware issue.
