HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

Today I tried sending a recipe to my printer and got a blue screen with an error code B8CDFFB8. I have never seen this before as it was just working fine yesterday printing worksheets for my son. I pulled up the hp smart help to try and diagnose but it said no issues were found, however, my printer is offline with that blue screen. Please help.

Hi @Carlson92,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The blue screen with error code B8CDFFB8 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is indicative of a more serious issue, potentially related to the printer's firmware or hardware. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • If the printer turns on but remains offline, check for any available firmware updates. You can usually do this through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset if possible. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset for your specific model.

Check Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables are securely connected.
  • If using Wi-Fi, make sure your network is functioning properly.

Inspect for Hardware Issues:

  • Look for any visible signs of damage or obstruction inside the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
