OfficeJet Pro 9025e

This printer is no older than 8 or 9 months, hardly gets used other than scanning a few times a week and printing probably three for four times a month.

I first noticed when scanning bills or documents, 2 sided, the back side of the scan would show up on my computer as this pixilated rainbow dotted screen where you could sorta see the document behind this screen of dots, but the front side of the scan is totally fine. About a month or so later, I also started noticing that when I go to scan a document, it will feed a couple inches into the printer and just stop and then give me a blue screen with a power button symbol and the error code  00879C98. Completely unresponsive to any button pushes, only way to get it to get out of this screen is to unplug it and plug it back in.

So I just stopped scanning two sided through the feeder, if I needed to scan two sided I will use the glass (which gets very inconvenient after a while).

I did a little experiment to figure out when this error is occurring. It occurs ONLY when the top feeder is selected for 2 sided, if I turn off the 2 sided scan option, it feeds through the top and scans just fine. This has been going on for about 4 or 5 months now and I am very frustrated.

When I log in to the HP portal it shows the printer is up to date and there's nothing for me to do with it. My Mac is updated to Ventura 13.2.1.

Please advise!!!!

Hi @JKR2023,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Reset the printer

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the power source.

Wait 60 seconds.

Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and the printer.

NOTE:

HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Based on the description, I would say that the backside scanner has failed. As you state the device is only 8 months old, it should be under warranty. Go to support.HP.com. And open a case.
