I have a ~2 year old OfficeJet Pro 8710 that is currently showing the Blue Screen C9C70000 error and I can not get it to resolve.  I have been reviewing other recommendations from other posts and nothing has worked. This was working fine until the other day and randomly is now showing an error.

The printer is always on and connected hardwire to the router, it worked 3-4 days ago fine and two days ago when I walked in the office it was now showing this blue screen and error.  This error did not appear while it was trying to print or anything, it just was 'there' randomly.  There have been no storms, electrical surges/outages that would have caused any sort of electrical or network interference.  All other devices in the home (computers, routers, hardwired items, etc) all are working fine.

  • Network connected- not connected to a computer, hardwired into router
  • Electric power - directly to outlet, no surge protector
  • Last time it printed - 3-4 days ago, no issue
  • Showing Error code c9c70000
  • When powering on/off - no mechanical noise made (rollers do not spin, nothing seems to boot up)
  • Ink cartridges are stuck far to the right, will not move when opening the front or when powered up

Attempts to fix:

  • Disconnected from Hardwire Network
  • Disconnected Power (and network cable) held power button to make sure nothing left & left unplugged overnight
  • Checked all areas of the printer for paper jam
  • Blew out (air can) all rollers etc, no foreign objects found or seen, rollers seem to move by hand fine
  • Checked to see if it shows up on the network - its apparently not even making it past a POST as its not being assigned an IP
  • Found system/advanced menu (hold power 15 seconds, press home/question mark and get system menu - tried "full reset", "partial reset" etc...
  • Attempted to call HP service, was told out of warranty - must try the community forums.

Very disappointed as this is in a clean home office environment, very little dust, light use printing and only two years old.  Any help would be appreciated.

Crickets so far...

Anyone have any recommendation on where to get a firmware flash update for this?  Something I could try from the maintenance menu.  As a reminder this does not pass a POST so I can not access it from a computer to run any additional diagnostics or update the firmware that way, and its ONLY showing the blue error screen that I can not bypass.

Or is this a brick now?

is there a separate phone number to call?  When we tried the support number they said it was out of warranty and they would be unable to help so try the forums.  It seems like printer is a brick at this point...
