HP OfficeJet 5745 e-All-in-One Printer

I cannot get the printer to stay on. I've tried unplugging and turning back on.

When it comes back on, it either flashes the wireless indicator and the screen says printer error

or

It acts like its downloading something and then the screen goes blank

or

the screen turns blue with a number of different error messages each time.

I tried resetting router/modem but figured that wasnt the issue.

Based on some of the other responses, i may need to reset factory settings.

Hi @jheido4,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

This could be either Firmware or can be a hardware issue.

Try the below suggestions -

Reset the product

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.

To restore the printer to the original factory defaults

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).

2. Touch Printer Maintenance.

3. Touch Restore.

4. Touch Restore Factory Defaults. A message appears stating that the factory defaults will be restored.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I am unable to use any of the screen buttons if I get past the blue error screen. All of the printer buttons touch screen are frozen if I get there.
