Hi @Cmar2000,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the error you're getting on your printer!

That blue screen on your printer is like an unexpected plot twist, definitely not what we want to see! Let’s crack the code on this error and get your printer back in action.

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cable from both the printer and wall outlet.
  • Wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug the cable back in and turn the printer on.

2. Remove and Reinsert Ink Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove all ink cartridges and inspect them for any damage or leaks.
  • Reinsert them firmly and close the access door.

3. Power Reset with Cartridges Removed

  • Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges.
  • Unplug the power cable and wait 2 minutes.
  • Plug it back in and turn the printer on without inserting the cartridges.
  • If the printer turns on normally, reinstall the cartridges and check if the error persists.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • If the printer boots up successfully, check for a firmware update:
    • Go to HP Support → Enter your printer model.
    • Download and install any available firmware updates.

5. Try a Semi-Full Reset (If Issue Persists)

  • Unplug the printer.
  • Press and hold # + 3 on the printer’s control panel.
  • While holding the buttons, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  • If that doesn’t work, try # + 6 for a deeper reset.

Printers can be dramatic sometimes, but we’ll get this sorted! Try these steps, and if that stubborn error sticks around, I’m here to help you troubleshoot further. 😊

Hope I was able to make things easier for you! 😊

If this solved your issue, go ahead and mark it as "Accepted Solution" and hit "Yes"—your feedback keeps us going and helps others too! 👍

Take care and have an amazing day! 🚀

I tried all the above that I could do but I am still getting the blue screen and the error.  The blue screen comes on as soon as the power is on so I unclicked the ink cartridges but couldn't fully remove them because the printer head stays at the right side of the printer.  I was also un able to reset the printer because I don't have #, or 3 visible on the control panel of my printer.

Hi @Cmar2000

Thank you for the response,

Since the basic troubleshooting steps didn’t resolve the issue, let’s move on to advanced recovery methods to fix your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e’s blue screen error.

Perform a Power Drain (Deep Reset)

This can clear any corrupted power states in the printer.

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug all cables (power, USB, network).
  2. Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the printer directly into a wall outlet (not a surge protector).
  4. Power it on and check if the issue persists.

Force-Reset the Printer Using a Key Combination

Your printer does not have a physical # or 3 button, but you can try alternative reset methods:

  1. Unplug the power cable while the printer is on.
  2. Press and hold these buttons together:
    • OK + Cancel (or)
    • Back + Cancel (or)
    • Wi-Fi + Back (or)
    • Power + Cancel (or)
    • **Press the Power button 3 times, then OK once._
  3. While holding, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
  4. Release the buttons when the screen changes.

➡️ If this works, try reinstalling the firmware immediately (Step 4).

Try Entering Recovery Mode

If your printer has a recovery mode, it can be used to reinstall firmware.

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect any cables (USB, network).
  2. Press and hold the Power button + Back button (or Power + Wi-Fi) for 10 seconds.
  3. If the printer enters Recovery Mode, connect it to a PC via USB cable.
  4. Download and install the latest firmware using the HP Firmware Updater (HP Software & Driver Support).

Reinstall Firmware Using HP Printer Update Utility

If the printer still shows a blue screen, reinstall the firmware:

  1. Download HP Firmware Update Tool for your printer model from HP’s support website.
  2. Install and run the tool on a Windows PC connected to the printer via USB cable.
  3. If the printer is detected, follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

Check for Hardware Failures

If none of the above step's work, the blue screen error could be caused by:
✔️ A failing printer mainboard (hardware failure).
✔️ Corrupt firmware that cannot be reset manually.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
