OfficeJet Pro 8730
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The printer powers on, goes through its initialization stuff, then stops with a blue screen, a power icon, and the code 01999CE7.  All keypad lights are blinking.  If I touch the screen the blinking stops but that's it.  If I hold the power button for a few seconds it starts over.  But I can't power it down with the button.

I've read stuff that said this is a printhead or carriage problem.  But the carriage seems to be stuck all the way to the right and I can't move it by hand, even with the printer unplugged.  I wanted to take it out and clean the contacts, but I can't.

Another post describing the problem said that the poster should reset the printer using a procedure that was sent by private message, which of course I can't see.  What is that procedure?

Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

I read your reset instructions but if you read my original post, you'll see that immediately after powering on the printer it goes into the 01999CE7 error, with no chance to press any buttons.  Is there any hope?

I powered up the printer today, and the 01999CE7 error was gone.  It seems to be working.

Thank you for your help!

For anyone who is interested, this problem started after I cleaned the printhead using cleaning solution.  My theory now is that some liquid got into the printhead somewhere it's not supposed to be, causing the error.  After a couple of weeks in dry winter indoor air, it seems to have dried out with no permanent damage.  BTW, the printhead cleaning worked, too.
