HP ENVY 7640
Microsoft Windows 10 IOT

Yesterday I was attempting to print a document when I noticed a blue screen on my HP ENVY 7640 printer with a code C4EB827F on the blue screen.  I rebuted a number of times to no avail.  I unplugged the printer for the night.  When I plugged it back in today the blue screen was still there.  What's the cause and how do I get rid of the blue screen?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Make sure the IPV4 is enabled.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

  2. Touch Network Setup, and then touch Advanced Settings.

  3. Turn off IPv6, and then touch Yes to confirm.

Use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel display to set up wireless communication.

1. From the printer control panel, touch (Wireless).

2. Touch Settings.

3. Touch Wireless Settings.

4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Try to print.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Then, let's turn off IPv6

Use the control panel to turn off the IPv6 setting.

  1. From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, and then touch Setup.

  2. Touch Network Setup, and then touch Advanced Settings.

  3. Turn off IPv6, and then touch Yes to confirm.

Alternatively, you can try to disable IPV6 from the software:

Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.

Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.

Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.

Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)

Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then, click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.

Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

Restart the printer and the router once done.

Raj,  When I first went through your suggestions, I got the same results as before.  the blue screen came back when I put the power cord back into the printer.  So I pulled the power the power cord out of the wall again for the night.  I did't plug it back into the printer until just now.  And to my surprise the blue screen is gone.  Now that I have the home screen on the printer, I proceeded with the rest of your suggestion and turned off the IPv6.  So the printer said that disconnected me from the network.  How doest that effect my operation?
