a customer of mine, has been experiencing frequent hangs of this printer, yesterday she texted the picture with the blue
the customer has mentioned the printer has had issues in the past, that ended up restarting it
I think that a good idea to try to resolve this issue would be to throw the printer in the garbage... lol, just kidding.
I am going to an perform a full software reset maybe that will solve the issue.
I hope to come back here in a few weeks and say that that resolved it.

Hi @Salvatore_Tech,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error message and blue screen you're seeing on the HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 could indicate a firmware or hardware-related issue. While a full software reset is a good step, there are a few additional things you could try.
- Power Cycle: Unplug the printer from the power source while it’s turned on. Wait for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in. This might clear any temporary errors.
- Check for Stuck Print Jobs: If there are jobs stuck in the print queue, it could cause errors. Clear any print jobs from your computer or network that may still be pending.
- Full Firmware Reinstallation: Since the firmware says it's updated, you could try downloading and manually reinstalling the latest version from HP's support page, just to ensure it’s not a corrupted install.
- Network or USB Connectivity Reset: Try resetting how the printer is connected to your network or computer. If you are using it over WiFi, disconnect and reconnect to your network, or switch to a USB connection temporarily.
- Hardware Diagnostics: Run HP's hardware diagnostic tool if it's available on your printer. This can sometimes detect issues with the printer hardware.
Hopefully, the software reset resolves the issue! Let me know how it goes.
Take care and have a good day.
