When I plug my printer in, it goes through updates, states it's updated, then returns a blue screen with the power button icon and the code 89F2001. I have tried removing cartridges, unplugging from back for thirty seconds and then turning back on, but I still receive the error. How can I fix this error? Thank you.

Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand that you are getting an 89F20001 error, I am glad to assist you.
You might have to perform a semi-full reset on the printer to fix this issue.
The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.
I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.
