I have exactly the same issue as the poster of this question at this link.
I followed all of the "Approved Solution" steps in the post linked above through the "Reset the Printer to Factory Settings" steps, but still receive the error screen and I can go no further. I cannot do any sort of firmware update (the last recommended step) since the printer is "stuck" on the error screen and never completes the printhead calibration. I did carefully check the printhead (no damage), wipe it with a lint free cloth, and replaced it, but the error condition still persists. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
I am using Mac OS Sierra 15.3.1 (that wasn't a OS option above). Thanks!
2/26/25 Update: I cleaned the printhead again with another lint free cloth, and it allowed me to complete those steps (once I replaced some low ink cartridges). While this did solve the blue screen problem, I still can't print anything using Wifi as the Wifi icon has disappeared from my printer touchscreen menu. I see this error message in the Embedded Web Server when I click on the Wireless Setup Wizard: "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer." I searched for this same problem in the HP Community, and found (and followed) these steps in this solution:
I see that you are facing wi-fi connection issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-In-One Printer.
Please follow the steps listed below to restore the printer to its network defaults and then reconnect to the wireless network.
Step 1: Restore the printer to its network defaults.
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch ( Setup ).
2. Touch Network Setup.
3. Touch Restore Network Settings.
A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.
4. Touch Yes.
Step 2: Re-connect the printer to the network.
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless).
2. Touch ( Settings ).
3. Touch Wireless Settings.
4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.
However, this still did not allow me to enable the wifi on the printer. How can I enable the wifi capabilities on the printer? Thanks!

@rmessick, Thanks for sharing all those details — it really helps narrow down the issue! 😊 It sounds like you've done a thorough job following the recommended steps, so let's try a few more targeted solutions to unlock the WiFi functionality on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015.
Check for Admin Lock in the Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Since the EWS shows WiFi is enabled but the control panel still says it's restricted, it’s possible that there’s an admin lock in place. Let’s double-check:
- Open the EWS (type your printer's IP address into a browser).
- Go to Settings → Security → Administrator Settings.
- Make sure that Wireless Settings and Wi-Fi Setup are not locked or restricted.
- If there's an option to reset the admin password, try resetting it.
Disable Web Services (Temporarily)
Sometimes, Web Services settings can interfere with network connectivity:
- From the EWS, go to Web Services and turn them off.
- Restart the printer, then try enabling WiFi from the control panel again.
Manually Enable WiFi via the Control Panel
If the admin lock isn’t the issue:
- On the printer's control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard.
- Go to Setup → Network Settings → Advanced Settings.
- Look for any setting related to WiFi Direct or Wireless Setup Wizard and make sure they are enabled.
- If the option is greyed out, try performing a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the wall, and wait for 2 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Firmware Update via USB (Since Mac is Tricky)
Since the firmware is showing as up to date but you’re on a Mac, updating directly from the printer might help:
- Download the latest firmware from the HP Support website.
- Transfer the firmware file to a USB drive.
- Insert the USB into the printer.
- Go to Setup → Printer Maintenance → Update Firmware (if available).
Router Compatibility Check
Just to rule out compatibility issues:
- Ensure the router is broadcasting on 2.4 GHz (not 5 GHz).
- Disable MAC address filtering on the router if it's enabled.
Hope this helps!

@rmessick, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding bluescreen issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Since you've already restored the network settings and attempted to reconnect the printer, but the WiFi remains disabled, try these additional troubleshooting steps:
Check Embedded Web Server (EWS) Settings
- Access your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by typing its IP address into your web browser.
- Go to the Network or Wireless Settings section.
- Ensure that Wireless Direct or Wi-Fi is not disabled.
- Look for any "Administrator Settings" that might restrict WiFi access.
Perform a Semi-Full Reset
A semi-full reset can restore all settings, including network-related configurations:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait 1-2 minutes.
- Replug the power cord and turn the printer back on.
- Check if WiFi is now available.
Check Router and Printer Compatibility
- Make sure your router is broadcasting on a 2.4GHz frequency, as some HP printers do not support 5GHz networks.
- If your router has MAC address filtering enabled, temporarily disable it and try reconnecting.
Use HP Smart App or HP Print & Scan Doctor
- If available, try using the HP Smart App (on a phone or PC) to detect and reconnect the printer.
- If you're using a Windows PC, try HP Print & Scan Doctor to diagnose network-related issues.
Check for Security Settings Restrictions
- If the printer was previously set up by someone else, an admin lock might be in place.
- In the EWS, look for security settings that restrict network changes.
Manual Firmware Update via USB
Since the printer is now operational (but without WiFi), update the firmware manually:
- Download the latest firmware update from the HP Support Website.
- Transfer the firmware file to a USB drive.
- Insert the USB into the printer and follow the on-screen update instructions.
Let me know if any of these steps help or if you need more details! 🚀
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thanks for the response. I have followed all of the steps listed below, and still have no wifi appearing. The EWS indicated wifi is enabled, but all of the wifi menu options (like the Wireless Setup Wizard) indicate "You cannot use this function because it has been disabled. For more information, contact the person who set up the printer." I set up the printer following the instructions in the manual, so I'm not sure what I need to do to unlock this restriction!
Also - when I use the firmware updater on the HP support site, it states:
- Note: firmware download utility does not work for users using MAC operating system, please proceed to do auto firmware update or manual firmware update from the device control panel instead.
I use a Mac, so the User Manual tells me that I can update using the printer control panel, but I don't seem to see a Printer Maintenance choice - it doesn't exist! The User Manual also says I can use the EWS to update the firmware, but that utility tells me I have the latest version:
| Firmware Version | MANHTNPP1N002.2450B.00 |
| Built Date | 2024-12-11 |
Is that the most current version of the firmware? If so, what can I do?
Here are the icons on the printer control panel that I can see, if that helps ...
What is the next step? Thanks -

Thanks for the response!
I went into the EWS and checked for an admin lock, but was able to get into the Security settings. I saw that the "Wireless Infrastructure" option was unchecked, so I checked that and restarted the printer. Once it turned on I was able to enable the WiFi through the Touch Panel settings. I have been able to print via WiFi, so this solution worked!
I appreciate the assistance! Thanks! 👍
