When I send something from my computer or phone to my HP OfficeJet 3830 every other line is blurry but when I copy something from the glass or feed part of the printer it is completely clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @PLSchevy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 3830 is producing blurry prints for every other line when printing from a computer but produces clear copies when using the glass or feeder, there could be several potential causes for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to address the problem.

  • Check for Low Ink Levels: Low or empty ink cartridges can result in poor print quality. Make sure that all the ink cartridges in your printer have sufficient ink. Replace any low or empty cartridges as needed.
  • Clean the Printhead: Over time, the printhead can become clogged with dried ink, which can lead to blurry prints. Most HP printers have a built-in printhead cleaning utility that you can access through the printer's settings. Run a printhead cleaning cycle to see if it improves the print quality.
  • Print Quality Settings: Ensure that you have selected the appropriate print quality settings on your computer. Sometimes, selecting a lower quality setting can result in blurry prints. Check your printer settings on the computer to ensure you are using the correct settings.
  • Paper Quality: Make sure you are using the correct type and size of paper for your print job. Using incompatible paper can lead to print issues.
  • Driver Update: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest printer drivers for your HP OfficeJet 3830.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can address printing issues. Check for firmware updates for your printer model on the HP website and follow the instructions to update the firmware if necessary.
  • Alignment and Calibration: Some printers require periodic alignment and calibration to maintain print quality. Look for an option in your printer's settings to perform alignment and calibration, and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Check for Software Issues: If you're experiencing this issue when printing from a specific program or application, it may be related to that software. Try printing from a different program to see if the issue persists.
  • Inspect the Paper Path: Examine the paper path for any obstructions, debris, or stuck bits of paper that may be causing the uneven printing. Remove any foreign objects or debris you find.
  • Test Different Print Modes: Experiment with different print modes, such as draft, normal, or best quality, to see if the issue persists at all settings.

By following these troubleshooting steps, you should be able to pinpoint and hopefully resolve the issue with the blurry prints on your HP OfficeJet 3830.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I apologize for taking so long to reply, I don’t use my HP printer that much and life seems to get in the way. I had tried most of the suggestions except for changing out the black ink cartridge so I went back and tried some of the other suggestion and changed the black cartridge did the realignment and something that I did corrected the problem. I should have tried one at a time so as to pinpoint the problem. THANK YOU SO MUCH for your help and again apologize for the long time to respond.
