HP ENVY Inspire 7224e All-in-One Printer

I bought my Mum a new (16/03/25) HP ENVY Inspire 7224e, all set up fine, but other than the alignment page, it is not receiving jobs from any of my devices (phone, my laptop (Win 11), or my mum's laptop (Win 10) or her phone). It won't even print test pages directly from the printer's LCD screen! When I try to send something to print, my printer does nothing, but the device says that it has been sent to the printer (both HP Smart and direct from Docs). At that point, my device says the item is printing, while my printer says it has no active jobs. I bought this one for her as I have the one before this, and she found it easy to use. I've tried restarting devices, removing and re-adding the printer, updating the devices, checking drivers, and running troubleshooting from the HP smart app. My printer says it has no errors; HP Smart from my desktop says there are no errors, but when printing straight from the laptop—not through the HP Smart app—it says printing error, unable to print.

@Georgie06, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP ENVY Inspire 7224e printer is only printing the alignment page and not other print jobs, despite showing no errors, here are steps to resolve the issue:

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network or directly to your computer if using a USB connection.

Restart Printer & Computer:

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it, and wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on again.
  • Restart your computer to ensure there are no pending processes affecting the printer.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Make sure the printer is set to "Online" and not "Offline".
  • Check for any pending or stalled print jobs in the print queue:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click on your printer and select See what's printing.
    • Clear any pending jobs by right-clicking and selecting Cancel.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve persistent issues.
  • Check for firmware updates on the HP Support Website or through the HP Smart app.

Reinstall Printer Driver:

  • Completely remove the printer driver:
    • Delete the printer from Devices and Printers.
    • Uninstall any associated HP software.
  • Download and install the latest driver from the HP Support Website.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Disable any firewall or antivirus software that might be blocking the printer communication temporarily.
  • Verify if the problem persists, and if it does, re-enable the firewall/antivirus software.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Print from Different Applications:

  • Attempt to print from multiple applications to determine if the issue is with a specific software or across all applications.

Factory Reset the Printer:

  • Restore your printer to its factory settings:
    • From the printer’s control panel, navigate to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
