Bought a brand new set of real HP cartridges.  Black one - 902XL - won't work right out of the box.  Took it back to Staples who were kind enough to exchange it - won't work again!

Old cartidge worked fine but it is now completely out of ink - worse, can't get the old cartridge that did work refilled at Costco because HP has changed firmware and locks out refilled cartridges.

I did everything suggested on the threads - cleaned, recleaned, re-recleaned the heads.  Updated driver and firmware.  NADA.  Only a very, very slight bit of black when doing print quality page.

Are the new chips on the cartridge incompatible with older printers?  Did they eff-up the new firmware?

I have already spent more than half a day trying to fix this - looks like lost $85 bucks on new cartridges that I can't use which is almost the cost of a new printer.   So freaking mad.....

Hi,

Are you from the US or from another country?

Can you see 902 listed near the cartridges when opening the door or may you see any other number?
