Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

JUST PUT $67 WORTH OF GENUINE HP INK CARTRIDGES INTO PHOTOSMART C7280 PRINTER.  UNIT PRINTED A TEST PAGE BEAUTIFULLY THEN PROMPTLY DISPLAYED  "INK SYSTEM HAS FAILED....BLAH BLAH BLAH..."  WITH ERROR CODE 0cx18a0001.

HAVE TRIED RESETTING MULTIPLE TIMES TO NO AVAIL.

HOPE THIS IS NOT A FATAL ERROR MESSAGE AND I JUST WASTED $67 ON INK FOR THIS PIECE OF JUNK.   THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE BEST PRINTER I HAVE EVER OWNED.

ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED.

Thank you for joining the HP Support Community.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

What is the error message if you remove the ink cartridge?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

 Clean the printhead

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. Press Setup, press the Down Arrow (), press Tools, and then press OK.

  3. Press the Down Arrow () to select Clean Printhead, and then press OK. A test page prints.

  • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

If the issue persists, Align the printer

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. Press Setup, press the Down Arrow (), press Tools, and then press OK.

  3. Press the Down Arrow () to select Align Printer, and then press OK. A test page prints.

Check if the issue persists.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)
