HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I own an HP CM1415FNW Laser Printer that stopped working correctly. It keeps trying to print a phantom print job and sticks at a "printing document screen". If I hit cancel, it will get stuck on a canceling screen. I

If I reboot the device, it will eventually automatically go back to that printing document screen. If I perform a factory reset with the storage init screen and select my language and country again, once that is complete it once again tries to reprint the document.

Is there any way to reset the internal queue, or is that a different type of reset I should be performing? The printer is connected to NOTHING - no USB - no WIFI -  and it will try and reprint that phantom job.

Sounds like your computer is the culprit. I think you need to remove the queue. For Windows, please try:

  • Hold down the Windows key and press R.
  • From the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.
  • If the machine asks for Admin you have to accept this,
  • Look down to the print spooler service, right click it and select properties
  • Click on the Stop button,
  • Browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\printers or C:\Windows\System\Spool\printers (this may be hidden)
  • Delete the job inside this folder
  • Reboot the machine

Regards.

That's not really possible. After I perform a factory reset on this device, it is not connected to any network, and upon initialization, jumps back into Printing a document, with no computer attached wired or wireless.

My understanding is that a factory reset was supposed to also reset any store jobs - which is seems to not be doing.

Google clearing Windows 10 print queue and you will find many step by step instructions on how to purge print jobs from your computer.

This happens with the printer freshly factory restored not connected to any computer. There is no print queue to clear on a PC, because the printer is not connected to any computer or network. There is something stored internally on the printer that is not clearing.

I note your model says wireless and that might keep reconnecting if you have used wireless as factory restore does not always clear network settings.
