I am a Tech at a k-12 public school. I have 22 cp3525n printers that have the 59.F0 error. After going through the SM steps (sensor, flag on ITB, gear above cyan turning, reseating ITB) and repairing solenoid (same fix for most hp's) in fuser drive assembly, about half of them still come up with 59.F0 errors. I removed the fuser drive assembly (you have got to be kidding) and checking the gear alignment (pic included) I do not know what else to try. Our district has too many of these machines to just say oh well.  I could really use some help on this one. Please. and thank you in advance.

I am an electronic engineer skilled in consumer products repair. I have the same issue and have now built up a smaller collection of CP3525 printers, each of which displays the 59.F0 error. They have printed between 50k and 125k pages thus are well used machines. I attach below the information sources that I have used. I have not yet, however, managed to successfully repair one of these printers.

 

Experience (see appended links):

  • Testing the fuser drive assembly is the easiest first step - although this did not fix anything, there was a noticeable difference in sound between the machines, thus the root cause of the problem may not be the same
  • Tear-down of a CP3525 - the video is very useful. It still took me an hour to strip my machine down, following which I attempted the sticking solenoid repair
  • Sticking solenoid repair - this apparently went well, but on re-assembling the machine the 59.F0 error message remained, which was disappointing
  • Replacement of the fuser drive assembly - RM1-4974 Fusing Drive assy + motor DUPLEX Fit for HP CP3525 CM3530 CP4025 CP4525 - there is an assembly listed on eBay (but the correct assembly varies according to your model) - I have not gone to this step yet - Would love to hear from others whether this worked for you
  • Finding and cleaning a mechanical flag which may remedy this problem - there is advice on the CP4525 regarding a build-up of debris that interferes with the operation of the fuser drive assembly. However, I cannot see a similar flag on the CP3525. See: HP 4525 - 59.F0 Error - HP Support Community - 5084375

Just wanted to report an unusual occurrence on this problem. Having built up a small collection of defective printers (all CP3525; all showing a 59.F0 error), I recently purchased a working CP3525 model.

 

I ran multiple tests on the working printer - no horrid noises; it performed beautifully, producing perfect coloured prints every time. I was also able to look at the history of error codes on this machine via my browser, to find that it had zero historical occurrences of the 59.F0 error code. (Reader: I should have stopped there).

 

The R&D engineer in me then wondered whether the working printer would continue working on the transfer belt assembly from one of the faulty printers. Once I introduced a transfer belt assembly from a faulty printer, the recently purchased printer immediately showed the 59.F0 code; with crunching gear noises. It has never worked properly since - even when going back to its original transfer belt assembly. 

 

This unexpected behaviour makes me think:

  • Perhaps driving a faulty ITB assembly (even once) somehow damages the fuser drive mechanism or creates a timing error in the fuser drive gears?
  • Once this damage occurs, it does not revert back to a working state automatically
  • I have now stripped down two of these machines and adjusted/bent the "sticky solenoid" - yet this has not solved my problems
  • Has anyone been able to find detailed instructions on verifying whether there are timing errors in the fuser drive gears? I can see illustrations for how to do this on other models of HP printer, but not on the CP3525.

This whole situation appears rather weird. It was so unexpected to quickly cause a fault in a working machine with no history of previous 59.F0 errors.

I have now ordered a fuser drive assembly from China - RM1-4974 Fusing Drive assy + motor DUPLEX Fit for HP CP3525 CM3530 CP4025 CP4525.

Once this arrives, let's see whether it cures the problem.

 I Sincerely thank you for replying with such a detailed response. Sorry it took so long to respond and thank you.  The following observations are my opinions to your questions.  As far as inserting a ITB from a 59'ed machine into a working one and then it started erroring out, even after replacing original ITB, really makes you think. If the fuser drive assembly was out of time you would see the gears not lined up, right?  Of course that is a fun unit to get to just to check the gear alignment. Is the waste auger on the ITB backing up, making the unit hard to turn, causing the error? Luckily, the solenoid pad issue fixed about half of printers i had. If i had a definitive fix after the normal stuff, i wouldn't mind spending the time so that our district would have use of a dozen or so color laser printers to use. But to spend the time necessary to check, tear down as far as you have to on this problem and still just come up with 59.f0 error on dozens of machines is frustrating and disheartening. I have been a technician for over 20 years, starting with IBM Selectric Typewriters to high volume copiers in the pentagon for Xerox to now a public k-12 school and would like to believe there is an answer to this problem
