CP3525
Microsoft Windows 11

This is an area I've visited before. I have  a CP3525 Color Laserjet. It is currently printing normally, no error messages, but with black streaks running the vertical length of the paper. I replaced the Black toner cartridge (it was below 300 pgs left) with a brand new HP CE250X cartridge, ran the cleaning cycle, checked the transfer belt. Still getting the marks. I did clean the little toner collection shutter - it was pretty dirty, and that appears to be some kind of foam piece inside of it is disintegrating - I can't tell if it is/was a foam strip or just old toner residue. The long flexible toner collection "blade" had a lot old toner residue on it. I removed most of it via a PecPad wipe and my Datavac.

The printer then printed out 2 pages perfectly - no marks - and  right after that, went back to it's old behavior and left long streaks of black toner running vertically on the paper.. So, I think that the culprit is probably the worn out toner collection blades. Is the only solution now to replace the transfer belt assembly? The toner collection reservoir is only about 1/3 full, so unless those things somehow wear out before they're full, I don't think it's a problem coming from there.

Printer shows fuser assembly life OK, as well as all genuine HP carts.

TIA for your continued help in fixing this thing!

You can get a replacement cleaning blade on eBay from China for around 10US$. In a worst case scenario, you will need to install a new transfer belt.

Thanks - saw those, as well as third-party assemblies from China that seem to consist of the entire cleaning assembly. Reviews are spotty, as to be expected. Do you think I should replace the inexpensive excess toner bottle first to see if that makes any difference? I don't know anything about how it could maybe get clogged at the input.

Replacing the bottle only will do nothing. You can disassemble the belt and clean it ( cleaning blade) again well, focus on the side of the belt( cleaning blade) that is leaving you that stripe, and clean that part with more detail.

Thanks. What should I use to clean off the toner residue? Isopropyl alcohol?

From the cleaning blade you can use alcohol, for the rest if you will be cleaning use a dry paper towel
